Our last notes on updates made reference to HomePage MadeEasy's Special Friends page, and more specifically to a new update of TreePad (which we link to from that page). What we are adding here is a remark on TreePad's HTML handling capabilities, which can be very handy to you--even more so if you are a beginning webmaster.
As we write this note, in fact, we can additionally inform that TreePad 4.0.1 (the “PLUS” version) has just come out! This new release (that is, since TreePad 4.0.0) has added the ability to support images. In other words, TreePad is now also a Photo Album program, besides all else that the program does/offers! (Images can also be inserted, resized, repositioned, etc, on any text page--and more: as Treepad stores the images placed in the texts, or in a photo album that we make, these images are compressed at an impressive space-saving rate!)
Surely the TreePad folks keep busy and are quite an impressive team, who make us wish that every software we have could be backed up by a team as readily interested in developing and refining their products!
Quick update: There are now five different versions of TreePad™ that can generate an entire Web site for you, on the fly:
We have tried them all and can recommend them highly. (We have settled for TreePad™ Business Edition 6.2.5 and TreePad™ XL Enterprise 7.0, and currently use both, from the moment we start our computers to the moment we shut them down.)
Which is the best TreePad version for you? We'd suggest TreePad™ Business Edition 6.2.5, which is the most complete of the first three, offering a number of extremely convenient features that you are sure to enjoy as you make your Web pages (for example, instant Web page preview, among so many more!). Try it out and confirm our words for yourself: TreePad™ is shareware, that is, you are allowed a free evaluation period.

You are of course welcome to check this page on their site and follow the links. The release of the newest versions having been mentioned, let us focus more closely on this very useful function that TreePad offers, considering especially those of us who often write HTML texts to publish on-line:
Since version 3.x TreePad can instantly generate an entire web site! That's right. You write and format the text normally (i.e., using colors, bullets, tables, etc), and when you feel you are ready, you just tell TreePad to make a web site with whatever articles you determine.
Quite nifty! And surely no less handy!:)
So, if HTML feels like an alien language to you, and you have no desire to learn it, and yet you'd love to have a web site...well, certainly using TreePad is an issue to consider seriously. (We often use it as a time-saver, as it can do all the basic coding that's boring and time-consuming, and then we just refine the coding to our liking and purpose.)
For an illustration of this function, you can check their very on-line manual, which was entirely generated with TreePad. Although this manual uses frames (also generated by TreePad), you are not restricted to publishing a web site in this style. It is your choice to use frames or not.
Since we are at it, let us remark (in case you haven't discovered it) that TreePad is useful not only in generating web sites and/or web pages, but also in helping a webmaster keep organized!

Before you wonder...let us advance that no! we make no money by offering TreePad to you! We sound enthusiastic because we love the program and its functions, because TreePad keeps getting better and better, because it is a real time saver and great organizer, and because we feel that TreePad can be a great asset also to you! This tip, in fact, has been long due.
If you have never used TreePad, you'll be surprised at how easy it is to learn the program's basic functions--it offers a very intuitive interface, resembling the way we work with Windows Explorer.
And though the Program offers an advanced mode, TreePad is also so customizable that the user is allowed to determine the level of complexity that [s]he would like to have as default, as [s]he uses TreePad.
That is to say, if you are not technically-oriented, you can choose simply to configure TreePad to show you just the basic stuff. The rest will always be there, available, anytime you decide to venture getting a bit fancier.
Even if you keep it simple, you'll easily discover that having TreePad is equivalent to having a number of different programs all bundled up in a single powerful one (=TreePad). This means great economy in every sense--from your hard disk to your pocket.
The frosting on the cake is that TreePad is really quality software--which does not crash, nor mess up your computer, and hardly occupies space on your disk (well under 1MB) in contrast to the many powerful functions that the program offers!
Before you get confused (especially if this is the first time that you hear us, or anyone, mention TreePad), the program is available in two versions: TreePad (freeware) and TreePad PLUS (shareware). They are both excellent programs--the shareware version evidently offering a lot more features (among which web site generation).
The Freeware version does not offer the Web Site Generation feature. However, you can download TreePad PLUS for free and use it for at least four weeks. So, why not?!;) The free-to-try version that you download is fully functional! Besides, it is a no-nag program--so, during this free month, you'll experience none of those annoying screens that sometimes programs impose on us.
In other words, you can have a month to generate all the web pages you wish, in addition to enjoying the great word processing and so many other functions that we find in TreePad PLUS. Certainly not a bad deal:). The program installs and uninstalls so easily that you can do it manually, if you know what you're doing. So, your hard disk and operating system run no danger of being corrupted, independently of how many times you install and uninstall TreePad.
You can download either version of TreePad, PLUS or Freeware, following any of the links on this page. We seriously suggest that you try TreePad PLUS, for that's how you can enjoy the instant web site generation feature! And enjoy it for a month:).
You can always download the Freeware version later on--which is also excellent, though not as powerful. TreePad Freeware can export to HTML file--though more limitedly--but (as already mentioned) it cannot export to web site, generating all the pages and links, etc, in the blink of an eye, as the Shareware version can.
Or else, at the end of the free-trial month, you will gladly disburse a bit over US$25 in order to be the happy owner of an excellent piece of software which, though so small and compact, and simple to use, is remarkably versatile and multi-functional (organizer/PIM/database, word processor, photo album, and more--in addition to the instant web site generation feature, which interests us primarily here).
Admittedly, this is a bargain, in view of the valuable addition that we believe TreePad is to anyone's computer (running under Windows 95/NT or later).
Thus our tipping you on it, as a great webmaster's aid--whether the Freeware or the Shareware versions. You can choose to enjoy TreePad for free, or you can register the Shareware version and then really enjoy it!:) Either way, there is a lot you can profit from as a webmaster.
A word of warning: careful with imitations! (We've heard there are many...we've tried a few, but were not half as happy.) The TreePad which we can recommend this highly to you, and which you can use to generate an entire web site on the fly has been around for some six years, and is made by Freebyte (a company that offers a very interesting and useful web site--have you been there?).
